Major Arcana 13
Death
Upright meaning
Death signals the end of a major phase and the beginning of a profound transformation. It is rarely about physical death, but rather the shedding of the old to make way for the new. This card encourages you to accept the inevitable and trust that a fresh start is coming.
Reversed meaning
You are likely resisting a necessary change or clinging to a situation that has already reached its natural conclusion. This resistance only prolongs the pain and prevents the inevitable renewal from taking place. You must acknowledge that keeping the past alive is hindering your future growth.
Symbolism
The skeleton in armor represents the invincibility of change; the rising sun signifies hope and rebirth.
Advice
Do not fear the end of this cycle; it is necessary to clear the path for something better. Focus on what needs to be released to allow for growth.
Death in your life
Love
A relationship may be undergoing a fundamental shift or coming to a final conclusion to make room for new love. Release old emotional patterns that prevent you from experiencing deep intimacy.
Career
A major professional chapter is closing, such as leaving a job or finishing a long-term project. While the transition may be abrupt, it paves the way for a more fulfilling career path.
Money
Your financial situation is changing, requiring you to cut out unnecessary expenses and rethink your budget. Accept the loss of one income stream as the catalyst for finding a more sustainable one.
Spirituality
Embrace the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth as a fundamental law of the universe. Purge your soul of what no longer serves your path.
Shadow to watch for
Fear of the unknown, stagnation, and obsessive attachment to the past.
